All About Us

My name is Samantha Syme BSc (Hons), MSc (Addictions), Dip Coun, Dip HSM, Dip AH, Master Practitioner. I’m a qualified Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. I run Wirral Hypnotherapy and Mindworks and have several therapists working alongside myself. All of whom are fully qualified and have been practising many years.

Our therapists have assisted hundreds of people from all over the UK and abroad. Our clinical expertise and therapeutic application means that we have been called upon to give talks and lectures to a wide audience ranging from colleges to local radio stations.

Our therapeutic reputation in the North West has brought us several famous clients for treatment over the years.

Our therapists are smoking cessation specialists and can claim a high success rate with the hundreds of smokers that they have stopped smoking in just one and a half hours. Our methods are unique and our clients have travelled from all over the UK based on our success rate.

We also have particular skills in the area of sports performance. We have worked with football teams and individual well known sports personalities, using the power of hypnosis to improve performance.

We have also worked with individual golf players at the British Open Golf Championships, Wirral, in the Summer of 2006.

Our membership bodies include the International Association of Hypno Analysts, (IAPH) established in 1984 as an organisation dedicated to the professional use of hypnosis for the treatment of nervous disorders. Our therapists are also members of the British Association of Counselling. The IAPH specialises in hypno-analytical therapy for anxiety and nervous disorders and its members treat over 250,000 people per year.

The IAPH is the largest analytical hypnotherapy organisation in Europe, if not the world. IAPH therapists are trained by therapists at the top of their profession, as well as drawing expertise from most of the world’s leading experts in hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy for childbirth, sexual offending and sexual abuse. Many of these courses are unavailable to the general public and equip the practitioner with up-to-date skills and expertise.

Our therapists hold diplomas with the Centre Training International School of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (CTISHP), (now the Awaken school) an organisation that is accredited and strictly monitored by the United Kingdom Council Of Psychotherapy, and the Robin Best School of Hypnotherapy.
We are members of the PHPA (Professional Hypnotherapy Association)

We are also members of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), follow the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and are Counselling Children and Young People (CCYP) certified.

Will I Tell You Something I Don’t Want You To Know?

No, you remain in control the whole time. If there is something that you prefer to keep private, then that is your choice.
Can I Get Stuck In A Trance?

No, it’s impossible to get stuck in a trance. You can open your eyes at any time during the session, ending the hypnotic state immediately. Sometimes clients feel so relaxed that they feel a little reluctant to end the sensation but they never stay in a trance.
Are There Any Side Effects?

No, there are absolutely no negative side effects from being hypnotised. It is a perfectly safe and natural way of using your inner resources to reorganise your thoughts and behaviours to bring about beneficial change. After the session you will feel very relaxed but it’s completely safe to drive, operate machinery or anything else.
Surely A Stage Hypnotist Can Control My Mind?

No. If someone volunteers to be hypnotised by a stage hypnotist they know what they are letting themselves in for. They know they are going to be made an object of fun for entertainment purposes but they are game for a laugh and happy to go along with it. If someone was dragged out of the audience against their will, then whatever the stage hypnotist tried would not work.
Will You Be Able To Control My Mind?

No, this is a common misconception. Hypnotherapy is all about you having more control of your own mind, so the client is the one who has control. Nothing will be said to you under hypnosis that is not for your benefit but if you didn’t agree with anything, your mind would just reject it.
