Stop Anxious Thoughts

As experienced hypnotherapists with clinics in The Wirral, Chester & Liverpool we have helped many clients deal with anxiety and stress related conditions.

Anxiety and stress respond amazingly well to hypnotherapy. Hypnosis, Hypno-analysis and Suggestion Therapy are ideal for any kind of emotional or psychological symptom or complaint.

Panic Attacks

When anxiety and panic attacks strike, they can have a huge impact on a persons life and can be extremely upsetting and frightening. A panic attack occurs when a present situation triggers ‘ bottled emotion ‘ in the sub conscious mind. The person suffering the attack will not have any conscious knowledge of these emotions causing the attack, but are acutely aware of the attack. Panic attacks respond very well to Hypno-analysis.

Symptoms of a panic attack are wide ranging and can include:

  • Sudden intense anxiety/worry/fear
  • Heart pounding
  • Sweating or rambling
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea or dizziness
  • Fear of losing control
  • Hot or cold flushes
  • Rapidly builds to a peak, usually ten minutes
  • Sense of impending disaster
  • Chest tightness or pain

Generalised Anxiety

This is a fairly common symptom in society today and affects a great deal of people. Often someone suffering with a general anxiety disorder will often feel trapped in a cycle of worry and fear. Not always suffering a specific symptom, such as a panic attack or social phobia, those who suffer from general anxiety will often experience a daily feeling of dread, inability to cope, inability to shut ones mind off from worry and a loss of interest in life. Mood swings can often be varied and the persons quality of life affected. This can often lead to feelings of depression.

Symptoms can include:

  • Frustration
  • Excessive worry
  • Irrational thoughts
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Headaches
  • Depression
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Social Anxiety (see below)
  • Phobias
  • Panic attacks
  • Sexual Problems
  • Emotional Upset

Social Anxiety

At both my Wirral and Chester Clinics, I have treated many many people for social anxiety and social phobia with complete and permanent success, utilising hypnotherapy.

Social Anxiety affects literally thousands of people worldwide. Social phobia is probably one of the most common phobias there is. It is quite simply:

“A fear of any situation where the sufferer is likely to feel on the spot, embarrassed or fearing being judged by others”

Those suffering with social anxiety feel very self conscious around other people and worry about how others ‘ see ‘ them or what they may think about them. Often those suffering with social anxiety, know on a rational level that others are not actually judging them, yet this knowledge does nothing to dispel the anxiety one feels in these situations. The severity of the social anxiety can vary in different situations, and ordinary everyday tasks such as speaking directly on the phone, meeting people in social settings. Public speaking or even maintaining eye contact can be a very painful and
embarrassing process. It is a performance related condition so any situation that involves scrutiny from others, will heighten the anxiety and thus enhance the individuals specific symptom.

Avoidance of these situations becomes paramount to the individual as they become acutely aware of the physical symptoms of their anxiety, fearing that others will notice these symptoms and therefore judge them.

Symptoms of social anxiety include:

  • Blushing
  • Stammering
  • Tongue tied
  • Trembling
  • Sweating
  • Panic attacks
  • Shy bladder in men (inability to urinate in public toilets; Paruresis)
  • Lack of confidence and self esteem
  • Nervousness; Butterflies in stomach
  • Palpitations
  • Sexual inhibitions
  • Fear of public speaking
  • Hot flushes
  • Dizziness and Nausea

Well, what can I say. Thank you so much! I haven't touched a single cigarette after my session with you and I feel fantastic. I knew that I wanted to give up smoking but I was scared I would miss it. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no desire to ever smoke again. Brilliant!

  • J Lynn

    The Wirral

I had smoked every day for 20 years and have given up in one single session with you. I feel great. The session was very relaxing and an all round pleasant experience. Thank you.

  • Tom

    Manchester

I really can't believe that I haven't smoked a single cigarette after seeing you three weeks ago. I walked away a non-smoker as has my wife and my brother since. I can't believe I am able to stand in a smoky pub and still feel a real sense of pride at not wanting to smoke. It really is a great feeling.

  • Andy

    Chester

I had tried literally everything to give up smoking. You were recommended to me a by a colleague at work. I thought I would give it a go. Wow! A month has passed and not a single craving. I am a non-smoker after one single session and very proud of myself. Your approach was a very unique experience for me...

I am writing you this letter with such gratitude. I had lived with depression for a number of years and had tried almost everything. When I came to see you, I really was at rock bottom. Your approach was quite simply wonderful. I understood the therapy immediately, no fancy words or phrases. I couldn't believe it only took me 8 sessions, after what seemed like a lifetime of misery! Not any more, I have since got a new job and things are going great. So thank you.

  • Dawn

    Chester

Thank you so much for all your help. I really didn't believe that I could feel this good after feeling so bad for such as long time. I am now able to enjoy life so much more without feeling anxious at all. I haven't suffered a panic attack once since completing therapy with you and I feel so much more relaxed around people. My family have noticed a big difference too and I feel on top of the world!

  • Rob

I immediately felt comfortable with your approach. I know I am not the easiest person in the world to deal with and before I came to see you at the consultation, I had made up my mind that I couldn't be treated, as I had tried numerous things to help rid me of these feelings. I really didn't know what to expect. However after the consultation, I came away feeling that there was light at the end of the tunnel. You kept me motivated and I saw it through. I can't believe the change in me... thank you so much!

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I am feeling fantastic. I was so nervous before my wedding, I really didn't think I could get up and speak in front of all those people. after my session with you, I felt so confident and relaxed about my forthcoming speech. In fact, they couldn't shut me! You really put me at ease.

I must admit I was very apprehensive about whether hypnotherapy could help me to lose weight. My friend recommended you to me as she had been to see you for two sessions and has since lost a stone. After my session, I cam away feeling motivated and enthusiastic. I haven't wanted to eat between meals and I find that I am nowhere near as hungry as I used to be. I'm feeling great...

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit us and talk about hypnotherapy and its place in sports enhancement. My students were very impressed and found the whole experience very informative. They and myself included particularly found the practical demonstration an extremely relaxing and motivational experience. Many of my students reported feeling much more focused on their training.

I also found it wonderful that you, yourself regularly practice self-hypnosis as part of your own sports training programme and the effects it has had on your own endurance stamina. it really does prove the "mind over matter" debate within this profession. I hope that you will come and visit us again soon.

Got Questions?

Let's Answer Them

Got questions about how therapy works, or what to expect? We have answered some of the most common questions to help you feel informed and at ease before getting started.

  • Will I Tell You Something I Don’t Want You To Know?

No, you remain in control the whole time. If there is something that you prefer to keep private, then that is your choice.

  • Can I Get Stuck In A Trance?

No, it’s impossible to get stuck in a trance. You can open your eyes at any time during the session, ending the hypnotic state immediately. Sometimes clients feel so relaxed that they feel a little reluctant to end the sensation but they never stay in a trance.

  • Are There Any Side Effects?

No, there are absolutely no negative side effects from being hypnotised. It is a perfectly safe and natural way of using your inner resources to reorganise your thoughts and behaviours to bring about beneficial change. After the session you will feel very relaxed but it’s completely safe to drive, operate machinery or anything else.

  • Surely A Stage Hypnotist Can Control My Mind?

No. If someone volunteers to be hypnotised by a stage hypnotist they know what they are letting themselves in for. They know they are going to be made an object of fun for entertainment purposes but they are game for a laugh and happy to go along with it. If someone was dragged out of the audience against their will, then whatever the stage hypnotist tried would not work.

  • Will You Be Able To Control My Mind?

No, this is a common misconception. Hypnotherapy is all about you having more control of your own mind, so the client is the one who has control. Nothing will be said to you under hypnosis that is not for your benefit but if you didn’t agree with anything, your mind would just reject it.
