EDMR Therapy

Start Healing Again

If you’ve experienced any type of trauma, there’s a good chance you still think about it (even if you don’t want to).

You probably try to push it down so you can move forward with your life but that old wound is still there.

No matter how much you want to stop thinking about it – it just keeps playing on a loop in your mind.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

You wouldn’t believe how many people are walking around with trauma, anxiety, or grief they’ve buried for years. Our EMDR therapy has helped thousands of people take a new step forward in their lives. It’s gentle. It’s different. And for many, its life-changing.

If you would like to try EMDR therapy, we offer FREE consultations. To book your FREE consultation, call 0151 706 8035 or head over to our contact page to get in touch.

Why We Feel Stuck Years Later

Trauma doesn’t always scream. Sometimes, it whispers, quietly, shaping how we see ourselves, others and the world around us.

You might notice:

  1. Panic in everyday situations
  2. Feeling disconnected or numb
  3. Trouble trying to sleep or concentrate
  4. Constant self-doubt or fear
  5. Overreacting to things that wouldn’t usually bother you

You keep going, trying to act as if everything is okay. You show up for others. You keep pushing through work. You tell yourself, “I’m fine.” Deep down, you know things aren’t fine.

Your nervous system is never quite settled. That unprocessed memory, whether from childhood, an accident, grief, or abuse, stays trapped. And when something small triggers it?

It all comes flooding back into your mind. We help people understand this pattern so they can take the first step toward healing.

It’s not a weakness. It’s biology. And it’s something EMDR therapy can gently help untangle.

You've Tried Moving Forward, Nothing Has Changed

In your quest to try and resolve, you’ve tried all of the things:

  1. Pushing it down
  2. Staying busy
  3. Reading self-help books
  4. Putting on a brave face

You might have even tried counselling but found talking alone didn’t really shift anything.

There’s a reason for that.

Trauma doesn’t live in the thinking part of your brain. It lives in your body and your emotional memory. So, no matter how much you talk about it, it still feels the same.

That same image. The same intrusive thoughts. That same panic. That same dread.

That’s where our EMDR therapy comes in.

Instead of talking around the problem. EMDR helps your brain process what’s been stuck. And if you’re someone who’s been holding onto pain for a long time, it can finally feel like something shifts.

A young woman feels totally lost in her feelings.

What Is EMDR?

EMDR stand for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It’s a therapy developed specifically to help people process trauma.

Here’s how it works;

  1. You focus briefly on a painful memory
  2. At the same time, your therapist guides you through gentle left-right stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping)
  3. This helps your brain “digest” the memory in a safe, calm, environment.

There’s no need to talk about it in detail. No need to relive it over and over again.

You stay present and in control the whole time.

The intensity of the memory will be reduced, making it easier to manage. many people describe it as finally something to rest. The memory hasn’t been forgotten but it’s no longer running the show.

If you would like to give it a try, we offer the best EMDR therapy. Book your free EMDR consultation by calling 0151 706 8035 or you can use our online booking form here.

What To Expect During An EMDR Session

If you feel a bit nervous about starting EMDR therapy, don’t worry. It’s perfectly normal.

EMDR isn’t something that rushes or overwhelms. It’s tailored to you and your specific needs.

Here’s what a typical session look like

  1. You’ll have a chance to talk about what’s been bothering you
  2. Your EMDR therapist will guide you through gentle grounding tools
  3. You’ll always stay within a manageable emotional space
  4. Processing happens in small steps, not all at once

It’s not about “dumping” everything in one go. EMDR doesn’t work like that.

It’s about healing the painful memories, layer by layer. And if you ever feel unsure or want to slow down, that’s perfectly okay.

This type of therapy focuses on trust, safety and doing things at your own pace.

This is how we’ve been helping heal painful, traumatic memories for over 15 years.

Well, what can I say. Thank you so much! I haven't touched a single cigarette after my session with you and I feel fantastic. I knew that I wanted to give up smoking but I was scared I would miss it. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no desire to ever smoke again. Brilliant!

  • J Lynn

    The Wirral

I had smoked every day for 20 years and have given up in one single session with you. I feel great. The session was very relaxing and an all round pleasant experience. Thank you.

  • Tom

    Manchester

I really can't believe that I haven't smoked a single cigarette after seeing you three weeks ago. I walked away a non-smoker as has my wife and my brother since. I can't believe I am able to stand in a smoky pub and still feel a real sense of pride at not wanting to smoke. It really is a great feeling.

  • Andy

    Chester

I had tried literally everything to give up smoking. You were recommended to me a by a colleague at work. I thought I would give it a go. Wow! A month has passed and not a single craving. I am a non-smoker after one single session and very proud of myself. Your approach was a very unique experience for me...

  • Mike

    The Wirral

I am writing you this letter with such gratitude. I had lived with depression for a number of years and had tried almost everything. When I came to see you, I really was at rock bottom. Your approach was quite simply wonderful. I understood the therapy immediately, no fancy words or phrases. I couldn't believe it only took me 8 sessions, after what seemed like a lifetime of misery! Not any more, I have since got a new job and things are going great. So thank you.

  • Dawn

    Chester

Thank you so much for all your help. I really didn't believe that I could feel this good after feeling so bad for such as long time. I am now able to enjoy life so much more without feeling anxious at all. I haven't suffered a panic attack once since completing therapy with you and I feel so much more relaxed around people. My family have noticed a big difference too and I feel on top of the world!

  • Rob

    Cheshire

I immediately felt comfortable with your approach. I know I am not the easiest person in the world to deal with and before I came to see you at the consultation, I had made up my mind that I couldn't be treated, as I had tried numerous things to help rid me of these feelings. I really didn't know what to expect. However after the consultation, I came away feeling that there was light at the end of the tunnel. You kept me motivated and I saw it through. I can't believe the change in me... thank you so much!

  • Anonymous

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I am feeling fantastic. I was so nervous before my wedding, I really didn't think I could get up and speak in front of all those people. after my session with you, I felt so confident and relaxed about my forthcoming speech. In fact, they couldn't shut me! You really put me at ease.

  • Susan

    North Wales

I must admit I was very apprehensive about whether hypnotherapy could help me to lose weight. My friend recommended you to me as she had been to see you for two sessions and has since lost a stone. After my session, I cam away feeling motivated and enthusiastic. I haven't wanted to eat between meals and I find that I am nowhere near as hungry as I used to be. I'm feeling great...

  • R. Howitt

    Northwich, Cheshire

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit us and talk about hypnotherapy and its place in sports enhancement. My students were very impressed and found the whole experience very informative. They and myself included particularly found the practical demonstration an extremely relaxing and motivational experience. Many of my students reported feeling much more focused on their training.

I also found it wonderful that you, yourself regularly practice self-hypnosis as part of your own sports training programme and the effects it has had on your own endurance stamina. it really does prove the "mind over matter" debate within this profession. I hope that you will come and visit us again soon.

Got Questions?

Let's Answer Them

Got questions about how therapy works, or what to expect? We have answered some of the most common questions to help you feel informed and at ease before getting started.

  • Will I Tell You Something I Don’t Want You To Know?

No, you remain in control the whole time. If there is something that you prefer to keep private, then that is your choice.

  • Can I Get Stuck In A Trance?

No, it’s impossible to get stuck in a trance. You can open your eyes at any time during the session, ending the hypnotic state immediately. Sometimes clients feel so relaxed that they feel a little reluctant to end the sensation but they never stay in a trance.

  • Are There Any Side Effects?

No, there are absolutely no negative side effects from being hypnotised. It is a perfectly safe and natural way of using your inner resources to reorganise your thoughts and behaviours to bring about beneficial change. After the session you will feel very relaxed but it’s completely safe to drive, operate machinery or anything else.

  • Surely A Stage Hypnotist Can Control My Mind?

No. If someone volunteers to be hypnotised by a stage hypnotist they know what they are letting themselves in for. They know they are going to be made an object of fun for entertainment purposes but they are game for a laugh and happy to go along with it. If someone was dragged out of the audience against their will, then whatever the stage hypnotist tried would not work.

  • Will You Be Able To Control My Mind?

No, this is a common misconception. Hypnotherapy is all about you having more control of your own mind, so the client is the one who has control. Nothing will be said to you under hypnosis that is not for your benefit but if you didn’t agree with anything, your mind would just reject it.
