Understanding Addictions

By way of background, addictions usually develop because either we use the addiction to help change the way we feel generally in life or because of some conditioning from our past. Either way, addiction of any sort can be incredibly debilitating.

Not only are there the direct effects of the addiction itself, such as poor health, poor finances and poor relationships but addicts often talk about the low self-esteem that goes hand in hand with failed attempts to stop. Indeed, no matter how hard they may try, even with outside help, many addicts struggle to conquer their addiction, sometimes with devastating effects.

If you would like some help to beat an addiction give our team a call on 0151 706 8035. We’re ready and waiting to take your call.

Unlocking The Unconscious Mind

The reason this approach is so effective in helping to treat addiction lies in the fact that addiction is a learned response of our unconscious mind. if you could consciously decide to stop your addiction, like you might consciously decide to stop doing exercise for example, you would, right?

Unfortunately, it’s usually not that simple because the roots of addiction lie in the unconscious mind. this is why addiction is something that we struggle to control consciously – indeed often it ends up controlling us, making us a slave to our specific vice. If you would like to get some help for any type of addiction in Liverpool please don’t hesitate to call us on 0151 706 8035 or you can use our contact form.

Well, what can I say. Thank you so much! I haven't touched a single cigarette after my session with you and I feel fantastic. I knew that I wanted to give up smoking but I was scared I would miss it. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no desire to ever smoke again. Brilliant!

  • J Lynn

    The Wirral

I had smoked every day for 20 years and have given up in one single session with you. I feel great. The session was very relaxing and an all round pleasant experience. Thank you.

  • Tom

I really can't believe that I haven't smoked a single cigarette after seeing you three weeks ago. I walked away a non-smoker as has my wife and my brother since. I can't believe I am able to stand in a smoky pub and still feel a real sense of pride at not wanting to smoke. It really is a great feeling.

I had tried literally everything to give up smoking. You were recommended to me a by a colleague at work. I thought I would give it a go. Wow! A month has passed and not a single craving. I am a non-smoker after one single session and very proud of myself. Your approach was a very unique experience for me...

I am writing you this letter with such gratitude. I had lived with depression for a number of years and had tried almost everything. When I came to see you, I really was at rock bottom. Your approach was quite simply wonderful. I understood the therapy immediately, no fancy words or phrases. I couldn't believe it only took me 8 sessions, after what seemed like a lifetime of misery! Not any more, I have since got a new job and things are going great. So thank you.

Thank you so much for all your help. I really didn't believe that I could feel this good after feeling so bad for such as long time. I am now able to enjoy life so much more without feeling anxious at all. I haven't suffered a panic attack once since completing therapy with you and I feel so much more relaxed around people. My family have noticed a big difference too and I feel on top of the world!

  • Rob

    Cheshire

I immediately felt comfortable with your approach. I know I am not the easiest person in the world to deal with and before I came to see you at the consultation, I had made up my mind that I couldn't be treated, as I had tried numerous things to help rid me of these feelings. I really didn't know what to expect. However after the consultation, I came away feeling that there was light at the end of the tunnel. You kept me motivated and I saw it through. I can't believe the change in me... thank you so much!

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I am feeling fantastic. I was so nervous before my wedding, I really didn't think I could get up and speak in front of all those people. after my session with you, I felt so confident and relaxed about my forthcoming speech. In fact, they couldn't shut me! You really put me at ease.

I must admit I was very apprehensive about whether hypnotherapy could help me to lose weight. My friend recommended you to me as she had been to see you for two sessions and has since lost a stone. After my session, I cam away feeling motivated and enthusiastic. I haven't wanted to eat between meals and I find that I am nowhere near as hungry as I used to be. I'm feeling great...

I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit us and talk about hypnotherapy and its place in sports enhancement. My students were very impressed and found the whole experience very informative. They and myself included particularly found the practical demonstration an extremely relaxing and motivational experience. Many of my students reported feeling much more focused on their training.

I also found it wonderful that you, yourself regularly practice self-hypnosis as part of your own sports training programme and the effects it has had on your own endurance stamina. it really does prove the "mind over matter" debate within this profession. I hope that you will come and visit us again soon.

Got Questions?

Let's Answer Them

Got questions about how therapy works, or what to expect? We have answered some of the most common questions to help you feel informed and at ease before getting started.

  • Will I Tell You Something I Don’t Want You To Know?

No, you remain in control the whole time. If there is something that you prefer to keep private, then that is your choice.

  • Can I Get Stuck In A Trance?

No, it’s impossible to get stuck in a trance. You can open your eyes at any time during the session, ending the hypnotic state immediately. Sometimes clients feel so relaxed that they feel a little reluctant to end the sensation but they never stay in a trance.

  • Are There Any Side Effects?

No, there are absolutely no negative side effects from being hypnotised. It is a perfectly safe and natural way of using your inner resources to reorganise your thoughts and behaviours to bring about beneficial change. After the session you will feel very relaxed but it’s completely safe to drive, operate machinery or anything else.

  • Surely A Stage Hypnotist Can Control My Mind?

No. If someone volunteers to be hypnotised by a stage hypnotist they know what they are letting themselves in for. They know they are going to be made an object of fun for entertainment purposes but they are game for a laugh and happy to go along with it. If someone was dragged out of the audience against their will, then whatever the stage hypnotist tried would not work.

  • Will You Be Able To Control My Mind?

No, this is a common misconception. Hypnotherapy is all about you having more control of your own mind, so the client is the one who has control. Nothing will be said to you under hypnosis that is not for your benefit but if you didn’t agree with anything, your mind would just reject it.
